ADCA Association Information

American Distance Counseling Association
Founded for state board licensed mental health and medical practitioners who use tele-health delivery of online medical and mental health services via the internet, in conjunction with their professional office based practice.  Credential check and verification available for certification as a clinical member of ACDA, to validate your posted professional background. Distance counseling includes mediums of email, secure chat and telephone delivery of professional services.

Distance Counseling through email, chat and telephone have been offered and approved for use by many US entities, on an ever increasing level since 1995.  A need for a national association to formally recognize those professionals who use the internet for increased delivery of services was needed.  Distance Counselors reach remote underserved geographical areas, those patients and clients who have travel limitations, and those who want increased privacy and choices.  Distance Counselors provide continuity to those clients who travel and change locations and who wish to maintain a therapeutic relationship with a known and familiar counselor of their choice.

Association Goals
American Distance Counseling Association maintains standards of practice, and actively recruits professional who wish to be networked with others conducting distance counseling.  The Association strives to maintain a data base of qualified distant practitioners in both medicine and mental health to create public awareness of their services.  The ADCA will eventually serve as an organization for standardization and credentialing in recognition of the services offered by Distant Counselors who maintain high standards of care.

Organizational Structure

A Board of Directors serves as the advisory council for the activities of American Distance Counseling Association.  Selections and invitations will be open to those experts who have been instrumental in the development of distance counseling delivery, and who have maintained a high level of competence and sensitivity to distant counseling issues.
